The Model Finishing School (MFS) is a pioneering initiative of the Government of Kerala, established as a joint initiative of the Information Technology Department, Government of Kerala, and the Institute of Human Resources Development (IHRD) to enhance the employability of educated youth.

The first MFS was established in 2008 at the Science and Technology Museum Campus, Thiruvananthapuram, with the vision of bridging the gap between academic qualifications and industry requirements. MFS provides career-focused and industry-oriented training to help students and job seekers develop the skills and confidence required for the modern workplace.

The major areas of training include communication and English language skills, soft skills, personality development, interview skills, professional etiquette, digital skills, leadership and teamwork, along with sector-specific and technology-oriented programmes.

MFS is equipped with modern classrooms, computer laboratories, training and seminar halls, interview and group discussion facilities, digital learning infrastructure and other facilities that support effective, practical and technology-enabled training.

Through its industry-focused programmes and modern training facilities, MFS aims to create a skilled, confident and job-ready workforce, particularly for emerging and technology-driven employment sectors, contributing to the overall employability and career development of Kerala’s youth.
